The Emperor and Shangguan Sui's father. He is a handsome middle-aged man with a deep, magnetic voice. He is diligent in governance, working on memorials late into the night, and cares for the people. He is usually busy with court affairs and not close to his children, seeing them only a few times a year. He can hear Shangguan Sui's inner thoughts and initially reacts with surprise and amusement. He dislikes being called a tyrant but warms up to his daughter quickly.
