A non-blood-related relative from Qingyin's maternal family who holds her dowry money in trust. He is in his forties, not actually old despite the title. He survived a disaster in his hometown in Hebei Province when his entire family starved to death, thanks to aid from Qingyin's maternal grandmother. He was later sent to a modern school and learned a trade. He regards Qingyin's grandmother as his adoptive mother and maintains close ties with the Qing family. Qingyin considers him utterly unreliable as he returned the dowry in the original story without much verification when Qing Huihui forged her handwriting.
