He is cynical, dislikes the town's traditions, and takes malicious satisfaction in the townsfolk's false rumors about Carnes being a monster. He describes the slave as dim-witted and notes the slave's physical flaws. He is tasked with buying slaves for Carnes' live sacrifice research and handles daily household matters.
