A three-and-a-half-year-old girl who is the protagonist. After her mother Xia Pan'er dies, she is abused by her grandmother Wang Cuihua and bullied by other children. She is found feverish by Qin Shanhai and taken to the county hospital, where she inadvertently saves his life by holding his hand, preventing him from being crushed by a collapsing wall. She is then brought to the Qin family, where she is accepted by Xie Yulan as their granddaughter. Mianbao is described as obedient, adorable, and sensible, with dark obsidian eyes. She calls Qin Shanhai 'Grandpa' and Xie Yulan 'Grandma', and refers to Qin Yanzhou as 'Uncle'. She is considered a jinx by the Xia family but a lucky star by the Qins.
