A deaf and mute Buddhist monk at the Ten Thousand Buddhas Temple, fifty-six years old, thirty years older than Shen Que. He understands sign language and communicates with Shen Que. Despite the age difference, they get along well like old friends. He was sweeping snow under a tree when Shen Que arrived. He tends to the temple and is one of the few people like him in the mountain temple, which makes him lonely by the green lamp.
