The father of Ning Zhaorou and Ning Wanqing. He has an injured leg. He was summoned by the emperor (Yin Mingyu) and questioned about the Chengyang Bo household connection. He knelt all night in punishment, his knees becoming numb. He is suspicious of Madam Wu's explanations but cannot quite figure out what went wrong. He is concerned about causing trouble before the Sacred Longevity Banquet and tells Madam Wu to wait until after the banquet to arrange marriages for the daughters.
