A widow from the south side of the village who can read and is kind-hearted. Her husband was taken as a conscript three years ago and sent to the border, and no one knows if he is alive or dead. She has been raising a two-year-old child on her own. Madam Zhou offers her a job at the incense shop to help her survive.
