A scholar from Guangling Prefecture, born into a prominent family though his ancestors never held high-ranking positions. He is considered a strong contender for next year's Spring Examination and will become Zhuangyuan in the previous timeline. He later becomes the youngest chancellor under Prince Chen. Huo Ningyu views him as an opportunist with superficial and impractical views despite his solid scholarship in the Four Books and Five Classics.
