He has never eaten at the county yamen kitchen before, always dining on meals from the magistrate's household. He is buried in official documents piled high like a mountain at Qingfeng Hall. He is alert and discerning, noticing the unusual food aroma drifting from the kitchen. He is also the father of Jiang Hongwen, about whom he feels a trace of helplessness due to the boy's mischievous nature.
