In the novel's plot, he swindles Fang Muyu out of all her money, drugs her, and sends her to the beds of various men for his own gain. In the current story, he takes advantage of the situation after Fang Muyu's divorce, trying to touch her and making promises about becoming the factory director's wife. Fang Muyu slaps and beats him with a fly swatter, then kicks him in the crotch.
