Nie Bozhao's mother, also referred to as Nie's mother. She is calculating and initially opposed the marriage because she relied on Nie Bozhao's income. She wanted him to stay single so she could use his money, but agreed when he promised 20 yuan per month while taking the children with him. She acted as the matchmaker for the marriage.
