Male protagonist, a soldier and Lin Wan's husband. Also referred to as Gu Linchuan and Xiao Chuan. He is nine years older than Lin Wan. He appears lean and proportionate but is actually all muscle. He has a calm authority and speaks little but commands respect. He deliberately acts drunk on the bicycle to hold Lin Wan from behind, pretending to be dizzy. He is protective of Lin Wan, once shielding her with his body at the courtyard gate.
