Feng Qing's close friend, also known as Gu the Third. He publicly questioned He Yunzhao's title as Top Candidate at the tavern, accusing her of ruining Feng Qing's chance at Xiao Sanyuan. He was described as having intimate relations with Feng Qing (sharing beds with courtesans). He called He Yunzhao a 'smooth-talking weasel' and was cleverly countered by He Yunzhao's remark about him resembling Confucius. His actions endangered chief examiner Jiang Huaijing's position.
