A male classmate of Jiang Nan in the Chinese Department. He comes from a rich peasant family background. His father arranged for him to marry into the household of poor peasant woman Yang Xiulan. After learning rich peasants could shed their stigmatized labels, he became ambitious and wanted to divorce his wife, using excuses of forced arranged marriage. He falsely claimed Jiang Nan showed interest in him first and tried to entangle her reputation, likely motivated by her remittance income. He cowered when Yang Xiulan confronted them.
