A seventeen or eighteen-year-old young man who was bought by Old Man Si for half a tael of silver to bring good luck to Si Wen. He is described as thin and bony, wearing a long washed-out gown that does not fit him well. He is dimwit and stubborn, with a dull stammering expression. Despite never formally marrying Si Wen, he considers himself a member of the Si family and is devoted to taking care of Old Man Si and Si Yao. He is submissive, does all the household chores, and harbors a quiet hope that Si Yao will one day call him Dad. He sleeps on a crude bamboo couch and cherishes his small bundle of belongings.
