Also referred to as Hanxiao, the mute grandson of Old Master Fang and son of Lord Fang and Madam Hong. He is Wangyue's betrothed. He returned from years of absence and became critically ill with emotion upon seeing his grandfather. He is described as physically impaired, with a bizarre and erratic temperament, and has no future prospects. He is considered unworthy of Wangyue by Madam Xu.
