Fang Yuan's maternal grandfather, a once-renowned traditional Chinese medicine physician of Yuyang County. He previously operated his own TCM clinic before later practicing at a provincial hospital. Fang Yuan learned acupuncture from him. Most people at the county hospital had only heard stories about him.
