An official's son, referred to as Third Young Master Cui. He is engaged to the legitimate daughter of a Vice Minister by family arrangement. He is indecisive and spreads his affections, giving Ningzhu a stolen gold-inlaid jade bracelet meant for his future official wife. His face becomes deathly pale during the argument with Ningzhu.
