A carpenter who helps Shen Yanzhou build a cabinet in the backyard. He is respectful, calling Wen Yuying sister-in-law despite being a year older than Shen Yanzhou. He admires their close relationship and enjoys the mung bean porridge Wen Yuying cooks. He is diligent, sweating in the heat, and politely refuses extra porridge initially but cannot resist a second bowl. He washes his own bowl and returns to work.
