Elder brother of Chen Danzhu and son of Grand Tutor Chen Lietu. He was a close friend of Yang Jing. According to Yang Jing, he was not killed by Inspector Zhang as previously believed, but was slain by Li Liang's treachery as proof of Li Liang's submission to the emperor. His body was stolen by loyal retainers and buried by Chen Danzhu on Tao Mountain.
