Chen Demao's first wife, referred to as 'Mom Qiuhua' by Chen Nongmo. She was 22 when they married in 1940. She began working in fields at age 8 and had watched Chen Demao grow up since childhood. After the Japanese massacre killed her entire family, she waited four years believing Chen Demao was dead, then remarried a hunter in the village. When Chen Demao returned alive, she had already been remarried for over four months and was pregnant again. She continues her new married life while maintaining contact with Chen Demao's family.
