In the winter of 1970, Chen Nongmo, a twenty-eight-year-old woman from 2023, awakens in the body of her fifteen-year-old self during the Cultural Revolution. Having survived a deadly earthquake in her previous life while saving an elderly director, she finds herself reborn in a parallel universe where she is the daughter of Colonel Chen Demao and his wife Ji Mo. The family lives in a military compound in N City, but the political atmosphere is increasingly volatile. Chen Demao’s superior, Old Lu, has been stripped of his rank and sent to the frontier, and his wife has filed for divorce to protect their children. Fearing that the political storm will soon engulf their family, Chen Demao decides to send Chen Nongmo away to stay with his ex-wife, Cao Qiuhua, in Shanshun Village in H Province, a journey that will take five days and six nights on a crowded train.

Chen Nongmo is unaware that she has transmigrated into a novel where she is destined to be the male lead’s lifelong guilt and to die tragically young. Her older half-brother, Chu Wuwen, is a lieutenant colonel in the military who serves as the male lead of the story. Upon learning that her father has an older son she has never met, Chen Nongmo feels a sense of foreboding but resolves to survive. During the grueling train journey, she displays resourcefulness and compassion, notably sharing oranges with a middle-aged man being escorted for labor reform, which hints at the harsh realities awaiting her parents. She arrives in H Province exhausted but is warmly welcomed by Cao Qiuhua, her father’s ex-wife, and her new stepfather, Chen Zong.

Cao Qiuhua’s household is large and loving, filled with four sons who are eager to meet their new sister. Despite the initial awkwardness of being called the "Sixth Sister," Chen Nongmo quickly adapts to her new life. She discovers that she is illiterate and must start learning from the first grade, a humbling experience for a woman with a master’s degree from the future. Her new brothers, particularly the gentle Fifth Brother Chen Yi, help her with her studies, while the boisterous Second and Third Brothers protect and care for her. The family is united and insular, having survived a past human disaster that decimated the village population, making them fiercely loyal to one another.

While Chen Nongmo settles into her new home, her parents in N City face their own uncertainties. Chen Demao receives a notification to prepare for "thought reform," a euphemism that suggests a fate worse than labor reform but not as severe as imprisonment. He suspects that Chu Wuwen may have intervened using connections from General Shao’s family, a favor that could complicate Wuwen’s own standing. Meanwhile, Cao Qiuhua and Chen Zong plan to contact Chu Wuwen to inquire about Chen Demao’s whereabouts, hoping to provide support from a distance. Chen Nongmo, though safe in the countryside, remains deeply concerned about her parents’ fate and the looming political dangers that threaten to uproot her new family as well.

The story follows Chen Nongmo as she navigates her new identity in 1970s China, balancing the warmth of her expanded family with the anxiety of her foreknowledge of future tragedies. She must hide her true intelligence and past life while adapting to the rigid social norms of the era. Her relationship with her new brothers and stepfamily becomes a source of strength, offering her a protective bubble against the political turmoil. However, the shadow of her original novel’s plot looms over her, particularly the tragic fate awaiting her half-brother Chu Wuwen. As she grows closer to her new family, Chen Nongmo must find a way to alter the course of destiny, preventing the disasters that she knows are coming while ensuring the safety of those she has come to love.

Throughout the early chapters, the narrative contrasts the harshness of the political climate with the domestic warmth of Shanshun Village. Chen Nongmo’s interactions with the Educated Youths in the village hint at future connections and conflicts, as she observes the social dynamics that will shape her environment. Her journey from a frightened girl sent away for safety to a resilient young woman building a new life forms the core of the story. As she learns to read and write again, she also begins to understand the complexities of her new family’s history, including the tragic past that led to her father’s separation from Cao Qiuhua. The story sets the stage for a narrative of survival, family bonding, and the quiet resistance against the tides of history, as Chen Nongmo strives to rewrite her fate and protect her loved ones from the tragedies that await them.

When i read the I first chapter i thought that the negative comments were fake... But after reading upto 100 chapter by solely relying on my own my Divine patience... I can see that everything they sad is true. The protagonist is complete idiot.. He has heaven defying luck he always get top grade unique cultivation technique but that idiot wants to cultivate low grade cultivation technique, he gets mythical level pet but he wants to have mortal level pet, his step mother just gave him good food and he accepted her. Just when his step sister beat the hell out of him in front of whole school to humiliate him.. His step brother almost tried to destroyed his future but our protagonist tells him that he does not hate him but its just that he isn't too fond of him... And even when he have the heaven defying phone, top cultivation technique, mythical pet but his step brother and step sister can beat the hell out him any time, his step mother married his useless father to have this son.. Seriously. After reading until now I came to conclusion that if you give that phone to his step brother or sister they would have already became mythical level by now

I don't mind the fact that this novel is unoriginal. What I do mind is how poorly executed it is. The translations are below average (with a chapter missing at around CH 18) and the lack of care put in the story, characters and worldbuilding doesn't do a good job at selling a compelling anything really.I know what this novel is trying to do. It's trying to be the sort of novel where the reader doesn't need to think too much about the intricacies of the story, characters and world but instead just turn their brain off and enjoy. The sort of novel where the author is almost always making this up on the spot as he writes without thinking ahead much (if at all). That's an ok concept, it's popular and it can be done well.Unfortunately this author just isn't very good at it. The cheat is overpowered but boring and meaningless, theres really nothing enjoyable about this series, it's a struggle to care about any developments in the story or characters. Insultingly soulless, low quality stuff. 1/5.

I had to drop this at chapter four. The book may get better but, it is asking little much when you devote an entire chapter to (This new game is a secret from everyone)  and then immediately follow it with (at 20 minutes since the game launched thousands of players logged in and ""guilds"" were exclaiming wow at our MC).As of chapter 4 the main character had only bought the game 3 and a half hours ago, and only had one hour and a half of play time. For a game where the CEO is pissed that one person may know he wants to sell something,  you can't suddenly throw in guilds and a thriving intake money to teal money system over a three hour period. I am sorry, you put a hard short timeframe for the main characters actions and then ignored it for everything else. It takes time for a game system.that costs thousands of dollars per unit to sell. It takes advertising for ANYone to buy it. A second chance book can be good. But this one trips over itself trying to show how OP the second chance is too fast at a cost.
