Bai Muban's grandmother who, when he was seven or eight years old, took him to seek patronage from the descendants of his great-grandfather's sworn brother. The wealthy family gave them one hundred and fifty taels of silver, clothes, food, and ornaments, and even hired a carriage for their return.
