I love this story! I love how we keep underestimating Auri, and her magnificence just unfolds throughout the story with her sexy mate!
Would like more chapter updates instead of little at a time. Look forward to the updates but none for today.
A different story that makes you excited what's next chapter to read. For sure, I'll be reading this till the end of the story. Please release the whole chapter.
absolutely love all of Veronica's work ...
Does anyone know if the book about Chris and Raihanais is out? Or what is the next book after the one?
I keep coming back to the imagery in these chapters, and the contrast is SO deliberate it can't be accidental. Yunsheng's memory: a hazy room smelling of DISINFECTANT. An ICY towel wiped roughly across his feverish face. Cold words: "You little burden! All you ever do is cause trouble!" The entire palette of his trauma is cold—white lips, ice-cold hands, icy vines of fear, an icy towel, indifferent eyes. Then Su Jiuyue's world: WARM hand on his shoulder. Golden, glossy candied sweet potatoes. Shimmering sugar strands. A heated kang bed. Warm water towels. The word "warm" appears again and again like a mantra. This isn't just atmosphere—it's the central thesis of the story. Trauma is cold. Healing is warm. And Su Jiuyue is literally wrapping this frozen child in warmth, layer by layer, meal by meal, night by night. The fever itself is symbolic too. It's his body finally processing everything his mind has been suppressing. The nightmares, the mumbling—"Mom, don't leave"—that's not just illness, that's grief. Years of accumulated grief finally breaking through the surface. And the candied sweet potatoes! Think about it. They're made from something humble, something earthy, something cheap. But Su Jiuyue transforms it—caramelizes it, turns it into something golden and shimmering with long delicate threads. That's what she's doing with these kids. Taking what the world threw away and making something beautiful. The final image of the chapter—Aunt Fang blocking the back door, smiling with those narrowed eyes—feels like cold air sneaking back into a warm room. The threat isn't gone; it's just paused. And that's what makes this story feel so alive.
