I am still processing what just happened in chapter 18. These two Eagle Tribe females—Darlene and her sidekick—show up out of NOWHERE to harass Shen Qi, calling her a vixen and a seductress, and Shen Qi's response is literally just... efficiency. She doesn't even waste time arguing. She grabs a grass rope, ties up ALL their mates in seconds, and then uses the females as target practice with fruits on their heads. The line that got me was: 'Sorry, I missed last time. This time I won't.' LIKE GIRL. She's so casual about it too. Just flicking that rope like it's nothing while Darlene is screaming about her hands. And the other female? She actually had better mental fortitude—didn't faint like Darlene. Shen Qi was like 'how boring' and just left them there. What I love is how the plot connects. The Eagle Tribe females were already established as being involved with their chiefs, and now they're taking it out on Shen Qi because she's 'competing.' Then Si Jingzhan shows up to clean up the mess, and Bai Yuwei is already protective. Meanwhile, chapter 20 drops the Ai Chu kidnapping bomb right after all this drama. The author really knows how to keep the stakes climbing. Every chapter ends with something that makes you NEED to read the next one.
