Deuteros
The dialogue in these chapters is genuinely excellent, and I want to talk about why. First, Fu Chuan's voice. He's changed so much that his dialogue reflects it. The old Fu Chuan would have stammered, apologized, tried to explain himself. This Fu Chuan? 'I know.' 'You said I shouldn't concern myself with Zichen.' That's it. Two sentences. No emotion, no pleading, just facts. The simplicity is devastating because we know exactly what he's doing—he's holding up a mirror to everything they told him before and saying 'you taught me this.' Fu Xinling's dialogue is equally telling. She goes from 'That damn Fu Chuan!' to 'Fifth sister, are you going to let Fu Chuan act so arrogant without saying a word?' in the span of thirty seconds. Her voice is performative even when she's alone—she's always playing a role, always trying to maintain control. The fact that she can't control Fu Chuan anymore is what's breaking her. But the dialogue that made me laugh out loud was Fang Kaiwei's scene. 'Shen's family is rich. She's literally a white-rich-beautiful!' and then 'If she changes your life, remember to send me a red envelope.' This kid is such a specific character—calculating, materialistic, but weirdly charming about it. His 'knowing, mischievous grin' and the wink at the end? Perfect. He's the comic relief character who also happens to be the most honest person in the room. And Shen Shutang's online dialogue as 'Last Night's Wind and Rain' versus her in-person voice is a brilliant contrast. Online she's warm, excited, saying 'True friends are never apart'—but in person she's cold and distant. The dialogue reveals that she's more comfortable expressing emotion through text than face-to-face, which makes the eventual reveal SO much more satisfying. The author also uses dialogue as action. When Fu Chuan says 'I'm full. I'm heading to school' and walks out during breakfast, that's not just dialogue—that's a character decision spoken aloud. Every word he doesn't say to his family is as important as the words he does say.
I make a break for it, running away from the troll's range of attack.
Duman Junhe agreed, and seemed a little more lighthearted, now that they had what seemed to be the beginnings of a strategy. Nevertheless, the handsome fellow turned to Wumu Qian once again, and jerked his chin up at the youngest of the trio.
" And I will, just not with him. Not after what happen with Kay."
my eyelids are so heavy ...
"Sonja, my dear, why do you have an email from Iliescu Corporation? Please tell me that you didn't do anything rash, or God forbid anything immoral, while you were out bartending at that event, were you?" It was completely understandable that Father Moreno thought that way as that was the only way that Sonja could have gotten in contact with Sebastian Iliescu.
Prepared, Nil took the full force of Dylan's swing.
"You really can't give the information about the Lechy's out?" Yami asked.
Hobie was wide-eyed, the shock couldn't be expressed due to his current form's figure. But trust me, the shock was there.
