uh the comments say it is good but i don't think i can finish this. i just read chapter 1 and it feels like i am studying mandarin. there are almost 40 footnotes when some words could have been translated

I'm enjoying the story so far, as it maintains a familiar balance between romance and fantasy elements. The author has taken a unique approach in some aspects, like not resorting to clichéd plotlines.
For instance, a character quitting their job was a straightforward resolution without the typical hero or main lead (ML) rescuing them, which I appreciate. The MC-ML relationship stands out as refreshingly authentic; they haven't shown signs of instant attraction or possessiveness, which keeps things intriguing.
What's impressive is how both the MC and ML exhibit maturity, especially when it comes to their interactions. When the MC initially hesitated to join them, the ML offered to invest in her capital shop rather than resorting to emotional manipulation. Similarly, when he insisted on having the MC at the imperial palace for the child's emotional support, despite his own claims of not needing affection, it showcased his considerate nature.
Overall, I appreciate the理智 and genuine portrayal of the characters, and I hope this balance continues throughout the story. It would be fantastic to see more MLs who prioritize reason and empathy over manipulative tactics.
I'm not entirely convinced by this. My search for historical fantasy BL novels led me to this one, but unfortunately, I struggled to connect with the story early on. The main issue I have is the inconsistency in the portrayal of the male lead (ML). He's initially depicted as emotionless, yet suddenly becomes extremely focused on the main character (MC) for no clear reason...
SPOILER AHEAD:
...after the MC turns into a demon cultivator.
This sudden change feels forced. You can't justify a complete transformation in someone's personality without proper development or explanation. If the aim was to build a romantic connection, this approach doesn't work for me.
Despite my reservations, I'll continue reading, hoping for improvement. There are moments of potential, and I think it might serve as a decent time filler until a better series comes along.

Really loved it,, the ending was sweet but could be explained more thoroughly,, but it's such a sweet and great story!! Even though first arc indeed gave me headache and made me sad!!! Otherwise it's just so funny and great!! Characters and plot everything is nice and the SYSTEM it is soo cute and funny!!! ≧﹏≦

I am. . . Positively shocked about this novel. I was expecting the protagonist to be like "holy shit I'm a girl?!*stops caring after 3 chapters or feels guilty for existing until he dies*". You don't get this shit in here, so I have to recommend this book.
