I considered dropping the story about a third of the way through because it felt slow and lacked development. However, the narrative soon picked up and became quite engaging. It’s a shame the main character didn’t make better use of their future knowledge, and I wish the story hadn’t ended so abruptly.
Now, having read some comments, I'd like to address those who disliked the series after Volume 1. Let me remind you, this is a Japanese web novel. While it may not be flawless, it's an engaging story with its fair share of strengths and weaknesses. There are moments of boredom and occasional pacing issues, but the narrative eventually recaptures its charm. For those concerned about the main character's sudden power-ups, didn't you notice the "Sudden Strength Gain" tag? It's a significant aspect of the plot.
Regarding the psychological elements, they are indeed present. The protagonist's transformation from a kind-hearted kid to someone driven by survival instincts due to near-death experiences and physical trauma is a profound psychological journey. He starts bordering on the edge of a sociopathic personality (but not a full-blown psychopath), and the genuine love and concern from a few key characters help him regain his humanity. The after story only improves upon this.
In terms of ratings, I would give the main story a 3-3.5 out of 10 (which equates to above average but not exceptional), while the after story earns a 4-4.5 (8-9, excellent but not perfect). That's my personal verdict.
