There's something deeply symbolic about Cheng Lan's situation that I can't stop thinking about. She's trapped in the body of a woman everyone despises — a prison of flesh and reputation built by someone else's choices. The original owner's sins are literally written on Cheng Lan's skin, and no matter what she does, the family sees only the monster she inhabits. I keep thinking about that detail of the granddaughter being sold for ten taels of silver. Ten taels. That's the price the original owner put on her own blood. And Cheng Lan, who spent her previous life building empires and protecting people, has to wake up in a body that committed this atrocity. The guilt she feels — "The more she thought about it, the more guilty she felt. Cheng Lan rubbed her nose. Although she hadn't done those things, her body had. There was no escaping it" — this is such a rich thematic moment. Identity, responsibility, redemption — it's all packed into that simple gesture of rubbing her nose. The spatial dimension is also symbolic in a way I find fascinating. It's her private world, her sanctuary, where she has complete control over time and space. But she can't fully use it — she has to hide it, disguise her actions. The power she needs most is the one she must conceal. There's a metaphor there about marginalized voices and the strategies they must employ to survive. And then there's the recurring motif of wounds — Xiao Muchen's physical wounds, Xiao Yunqing's ruined career, Li Xuerong's rough hands from abuse. The body as a text that records violence, but also the body as something that can heal. Cheng Lan's medical warehouse in her spatial dimension feels like the novel's way of saying: the tools for restoration are already here, if only someone can reach them.

Loved reading this book, everything you write is incredible. I couldn’t put this down, it was so well thought out. I loved the storyline and how it all came together. I can’t wait until we get more Kian and Morgana.
