I confess that I wrote this review without finishing the entire book, but since no one else has reviewed it, I just wanted to share my initial thoughts. So far, this novel is a real gem! It stands out from typical zombie apocalypse and BL (yaoi) stories. The main character (MC) is a smart and empathetic scientist who turns into a zombie. In a twist, while saving another character (ML), an elite alpha with military training, he becomes involved.
The comedy starts when the MC, despite being a zombie, tries to maintain his humanity by hoarding supplies and referring to a "Hamster Raising Guide." The dynamic between him and the ML is unique, with the MC calling himself a beta due to some unexplained traits, while the ML has a minty scent associated with alphas. The MC repeatedly saves the ML, rationalizing it as securing food resources, though it's clear he's still holding onto his human emotions.
There's a minor confusion regarding the MC's beta label, which seems more like an omega trait in the book. I'm hoping this might be clarified later in the story. My only critique is that aspect, but perhaps it's part of the book's intriguing world-building, which I haven't explored fully yet. I'll update my review once I complete the novel. For those seeking an apocalyptic romantic comedy with a touch of sarcasm and humorous misunderstandings due to the MC's zombie condition, this book is highly recommended!
Hilarious and adorable! Despite its lack of a substantial plot or character development, it's an incredibly enjoyable watch.
I have read 1/4 of the story in Another site. Total chaps are about 2000+ but i stopped at chap 450+. The characters are so weak. Poorly written. The ML/emperor is so stupid. Even knowing that he was fooled and yet again he falls to the same trap over and over again by a merchant borne. Better he step down and give the dragon throne to the smarter man. The FL is also ridiculous and selfishly stupid. Her selfish acts cause her despair. She doesn’t call it selfish but it is what it is. Just like a brat she insisted on a marriage leading her relatives in coercing the ML to marry her. Even after being neglected and abandoned left to die and being reborn, she still could not let go of the man. Even when the ML kept on saying apathetic words against the dead Wangfei (which is her btw) she still clamors to be beside the ML. Her transmigration is a waste and I think the Gods made a mistake. Just knowing that the ML save her father and brother and did not poison her, she had forgiven the ML. How cruel is that? The entire Ye clan of from 3 generations were slaughtered under the ML’s edict. Young and the old. Her Ye name trampled and tainted in history, and she forgot all of those. Her clan is not all clean but what about the young and the ye children? She is someone who does not value her family and only cares about her happiness. I’d rather not finish reading as that type of FL does not deserve a second chance nor happy ending.
I agree with the first commenter. The story has changing character names, numerous typos, and mixed-up pronouns. The translation is not great, but it's better than machine translation. The story's pace is decent, and overall, I enjoyed it. It's my first time encountering a story where all four characters are reincarnated, with three males and one female lead. The female lead also undergoes transmigration. However, I found it occasionally boring and noticed inconsistencies in their character development. For instance, they're powerful but don't always use their abilities effectively. There's a point where I dislike the male lead for wanting to hurt the female lead to prevent her death, which is ironic.
