A beautiful prequel, and that epilogue has me very excited for the future
Okay so let's talk about the energy between these three males because WOW. Bai Yuwei is out here being the sweetest boyfriend ever—giving Shen Qi the beast core even though she protests, blocking Si Jingzhan's view like a possessive gremlin, and immediately defending her when the Eagle Tribe females show up. Like bro, you didn't even know what happened yet and you're already on 'my girl' mode. I love it. But then Si Jingzhan comes in and—oh my god. He actually comes to APOLOGIZE. Like, he takes responsibility for his tribe's females causing trouble and brings a gift. That's... actually really mature? And Shen Qi is just like 'it's fine, let's move on' which shows she's not petty at all. But Bai Yuwei's reaction when Si Jingzhan leaves is EVERYTHING. The way he physically blocks the view? The amber eyes darkening? He's NOT happy about this guy lingering around. And Si Jingzhan noticing Bai Yuwei's abilities and thinking 'this guy's higher than mine—at least sixth rank' while secretly clenching his fist? That's rivalry energy right there. I'm not saying there's a love triangle, I'm just saying the author wrote it so there's definitely a love triangle. The tension is delicious.
