If you are here for an Itachi adventure in ATG, you may be disappointed. His characterisation here is so far removed from the original, it's hard to see him as Itachi. If you are here for Yun Che with sharingaan, you may find it refreshing. I'm in the first camp so I've gone as far as I can with it.??Writing Quality - good. Updating Stability - apparently dropped, but seems to have been ok while it ran.Character Design - more could have been done with Itachi. Even where he would have done the same as Yun Che, the motivation would be materially different
Honestly, this is a great novel, and that is what I'm rating it as. It seems that recently QI has been going on a poaching spree and has taken several novels from gravity tales, namely reincarnation of the strongest sword good, the Lord's empire, the world online, godly model Creator and this novel. I don't know if gravity tales dropped them, or translators moved over to qidian, or even if the authors signed them over to QI, but I believe that the readers deserve an explanation.
Clearly there's review deleting going on - no novel this controversial should have such a high average rating. Giving authors the power to delete reviews on their stories? Well, well...
Okay so let me just say this opening is absolutely brilliant and I'm not even being dramatic. Bai Xiaotong dreams an entire alternate future where she gets punished for her schemes, dies, and then realizes she's a supporting character in a rebirth novel — and then she wakes up RIGHT AFTER the incident that started it all. Like, the timing is chef's kiss. She has the knowledge of the future but she's already made the exact mistake she's trying to avoid. That's not just a plot twist, that's a plot trap. The structure here is so clever because it's basically a countdown. She knows she has three months to live if the future plays out the same way, and every chapter is her frantically trying to reroute everything. And the meta-layer — she knows she's in a novel, she knows who the protagonists are, she knows the antagonist's arc — this gives her an information advantage but also creates this delicious dramatic irony because we're watching her try to outsmart a story that apparently wanted her dead. I also love how the author sets up the Hu Xiulan twist. Bai Xiaotong realizes someone swapped Chen Xiangjun for Lu Ling, and it's probably the female lead. That means the rebirth protagonist is also scheming against her, which turns this into a two-front war. She's not just fighting fate, she's fighting another character who also knows the script. That's a plot dynamic I haven't seen done this well in a while.
