"Ya," aku mengangguk.
The president's guard looked at the screen....
I as usual was at the back of the line because I run the slowest. " Ooh!! Ms. Midori you are here. So, how long are you going to take this time to complete the race
"I forgot!" Sasha promptly replied. His smile still looked the same, but it was totally fake.
Okay, let's talk structure because this author is a menace in the best possible way. The chapter opening drops us right into Nanny Zhang's confession like we're eavesdropping on something we weren't meant to hear. No preamble, no setup—just the old woman breaking down and the truth pouring out. And the pacing here is deliberate, almost cruel. Each revelation comes like a hammer blow: Governor Xu wanted Qin Yan, not Qin Shu. Qin Yan fainted at the news. The stepmother protected her own daughter. The father stayed up all night smoking. And then—the father's line, delivered through a cracked door, which is such a perfect narrative choice because it makes Qin Shu (and us) feel like we're hiding, listening to something that should stay hidden. "A-Shu is also a daughter of the Qin Family! Let her go! She's the eldest sister. It's only right that she shoulders the burden for the family!" Boom. Right there. The author doesn't even give Qin Shu time to process it before the next chapter hits us with Qin Yan's entrance. And this is where the pacing becomes really clever—because we just spent an entire chapter absorbing devastating emotional information, and then suddenly we're thrust into a scene that's almost comedic in its villainy. Qin Yan strutting in with her perfume cloud and her exaggerated sighs and her fake concern. It's jarring. It's supposed to be. The contrast between Qin Shu's internal devastation and Qin Yan's performative cruelty creates this unbearable tension. Then the medicine bowl tip-over. The slap. And then—the most powerful structural choice in the entire passage: Qin Shu picking up the broken bowl. The chapter literally ends with her crouching on the cold floor, cutting her fingers, not noticing the pain. No resolution. No catharsis. Just silence and broken porcelain and blood mixing with medicine. The author is building something here, and I can feel it. Every chapter is a layer of pressure being added, and I have a very strong feeling that when this pressure finally releases, it's going to be spectacular. I'm already staying up way too late to read the next chapters.
With a heavy heart from johnny's situation, "Come get the materials when you're ready, Johnny, I have to speak with the director about something."
