This is a fairly typical god-like system novel, incorporating many common tropes. The narrative unfolds in distinct arcs, maintaining a grounded and engaging tone until the climax. Each arc escalates the conflict, starting from street gangs and eventually reaching elite military forces and beyond. Nationalism and racial themes are often employed in such novels, and this one is no exception. The romance, however, receives mixed feedback due to its somewhat awkward development; the protagonist's relationships with two initially love interests suffer tragic fates, particularly with Chu Yue, a dynamic character.
The novel attempts to address challenging topics like sexual abuse and power dynamics, which is commendable. It may be argued that the main character keeps his emotions and thoughts guarded to prevent further pain, but this approach can be seen as excessive at times.
Unfortunately, the novel feels rushed towards the end, with an underwhelming conclusion. The final arc lacks sufficient foreshadowing for the events that transpired throughout the earlier 600+ chapters. To heighten tension, foreign worlds and unexpected plot twists are introduced, such as the main heroine becoming a kingdom ruler with amnesia, Xiao Luo discovering new abilities, and an alien invasion. In a sudden turn, Earth is attacked, necessitating a rescue mission, and the alien leader, who covets Su Li, becomes a villain. Despite these dramatic developments, Xiao Luo triumphs and hastily marries several characters without explicitly expressing his love for them in the previous 800+ chapters.
There's an excessive amount of exposition that disrupts the narrative flow. Initially, the protagonist infiltrates an illegal auction, but the pace is interrupted as the author delves into backstory about a character they're impersonating. The auction tale resumes, only to be followed by a detour into a discussion about a coin system and its creator, their lineage, which further derails the plot. This pattern repeats frequently, causing the reading experience to become tedious. Despite my love for fantasy, I find it disappointing that despite high ratings, I struggle to enjoy this story.
I was searching for something light and cheerful to read, something that would lift my spirits, so I picked this one up without checking the tags or reviews (facepalm). I found it adorable how the main character (MC) has a crush on the male lead (ML). I was feeling "kilig"—that fluttery, giddy sensation you get when something is incredibly cute or romantic.
I was grinning and reliving the joy of having crushes until the angst kicked in.
During the entrance exam chapters, I had a bad feeling that something terrible was about to happen, but I convinced myself it would all turn out well in the end.
But it didn’t. The ML ended up in prison for killing his father.
While I’m okay with that—I had already mentally "killed" the father and hoped for his downfall many times while reading—the author left it with an open ending.
The story concludes with the ML no longer letting the MC visit him in prison, leaving the possibility that the MC will wait for the ML in the future.
I absolutely loathe open endings. I was hoping for an extra chapter showing them reuniting after the ML’s release, but there wasn’t one.
So now, I’m sobbing, wondering why their ending had to be like that?
Still, it’s a good read overall. It will make you smile, relate to it most of the time, reminisce about your youth (if you’re as old as me), and cry.
Update: I just read in the translator’s notes that there’s a sequel to this novel. I’ve changed my mind; I don’t dislike the ending as much anymore.

A SHORT but a good read. I'll give it 6.5 out of 10
Good book but has one of the worst endings i have ever read.
I've really tried to be patient and give this story a chance to entertain me but as I reached Ch. 476 it just wasn't worth it. The story is so bland that its like being given soup but you only get the broth and nothing else in it. What's even worse is that everything is so convenient for the female MC and her loved ones or subordinates that there is literally no tension or suspense. Add in the fact that the MC suffers from "I wana be low profile but will do everything I can to pisa off everyone (even those who are just innocent bystanders aren't spared) who just looks at me wrong" syndrome and the entire reading experience just sours to the point of unbearable.So my final impression of this story is that, you are better off reading another story with a female lead cuz I'm pretty sure those are much better than this one.
