I want to talk about how this chunk of chapters moves, because the pacing is doing something really clever that I didn't fully appreciate until I reread it. It starts SLOW. Like, deliberately slow. Xia Baozhu waking up tired, the family breakfast, the brown sugar egg soup — this is domestic filler on the surface, but it's actually building something. The author is making us feel the weight of this crowded, noisy, exhausting household before we ever get to the main event. Then BAM — Song Qu appears on a bicycle and suddenly there's a whole conversation about confidential military meetings and engagement status. The pacing picks up because now we're getting information: Xia Baozhu is calculating, strategic, aware of the political dangers around her. She's not just a girl dealing with family drama; she's a woman who knows that in 1963, a reputation hit could destroy her family. "In these times, having one more friend meant one more path forward." That line is the pivot point. Everything before it was setup. Everything after it is the actual scene — arriving at the Teng family's house, the confrontation about the engagement, the grandfather's enthusiasm versus the parents' panic. The chapter structure mirrors Xia Baozhu's own approach: assess the environment, build your resources, then execute. The ending with Xia Chang'an's "nineteen-year-old still clinging to the nest" line is basically a comedic button on an otherwise tense scene. It lets the reader exhale right before the real conflict begins.
Okay, let me just say this out loud: Pei Mu buying the betrothal gifts and deciding to propose to Zhong Yizhu is one of the most satisfying plot turns in this whole arc. Like, you spend all these chapters watching Zhong Yizhu slowly wither away, trapped by rumors and fear, and then BAM—Pei Mu just appears with a paper-wrapped bundle of teeth and says 'he won't come bother you again.' The man doesn't even explain himself properly, which is so very on-brand for him. But what really got me is the motivation reveal. Pei Mu looks at Zhong Yizhu and sees his late mother. 'It was easy for a life to wither away. Not everyone was as tough as him.' That line hit me like a truck. It's not just some random act of kindness—he's projecting his own guilt, his own fear of losing someone else to the same fate. And then he burns the matchmaking booklet in the fire. The fact that he had it in the first place and chose to destroy it instead of using it for someone else? That's a quiet but massive character moment. The subplot with Zhang Guihua's rumors and Liu Fulang's scheming also ties together nicely. Both families wanted to exploit the Zhongs, and both got shut down in different ways. Liu Fulang's family imploding into a shouting match while the matchmaker shows up at the Zhong house is delicious dramatic irony. I just have one question though: what exactly is Pei Mu's endgame here? He says 'since Zhong Yizhu had chosen him, he would help him one last time.' One last time? What does that imply about the future?
it's a lovely story as you have a great sense of creative story can't wait to see the story develop
Loving the story so far, keep up the great work!!
Superb bhai...... I love the character of Jim.... Because he loves Tina..... But he is not accepting it.... It's my own story..... Anyway the story is awesome....
I don't speak English, so forgive me for any mistakes. Honestly, so far I have nothing to complain about. He introduced a cast of 5 characters to be the main cast, which is a good number and also seems to have a good space to explore all of themThe main character is good enough and has potential to be explored, cool action scenes and plots, but for now it's hard to judge very accuratelyBut there are only 2 flaws that bothered me, 1 relatively silly and the other a little more seriousLet's start with the silliest one, be careful with the amount of unique terms you put in the work, remember that this is a novel, not a manga or anime, so there is no imageIf you put an absurd amount of terms like you are doing, there will come a time when, if someone simply stops reading for 1 or 2 months and comes back, they will be completely lost in the work, especially in the attacks. Most of the terms in the works are very intuitive and used in key moments of the work, with chidori and RasenganYou invest a lot in a short time, just be a little careful. Now the most serious thing is about the world building, the dystopian setting is intriguing, I liked how you structured it, but you exaggerated, the examiner scene was really badAre you telling me that this whole society is so dystopian, but all the cadets outside of Mikhail's squad are simply innocent at that level? Also, the fact that the Dominiques are totally disdainful even makes sense considering the idea of them being on an absolute throne but the others don't make sense, they are soldiers who have gone through everything the others have gone through so their tone at that moment should have been something more complex, something like wanting to pass on a lesson to the next generation or a hatred remembering their past self. Anyway, I had other ideas but absolute disdain with touches of disgust doesn't make sense.I could have done that, but instead of Mikhail reinforcing these actions, there should have been a veiled criticism of him, showing how, although the boy was right about the supervisors being incompetent and incapable of protecting the academy against students who fought for their lives, they are like absolute authorities that cannot be challenged, which would give a new air of refreshing authoritarianism.Besides the functioning of this society, it is not at all functional, but I can ignore that since it is a dystopia, but even within a dystopia there is a very well-established social logic, with powers ensuring that it works, but for now it is forced. But apart from these 2 points the rest is sensational, I hope it continues with enormous potential, congratulations for that
A mash up of creative ideas. The story was entertaining up to where I read. The story truly exceeded my expectations, this author has wonderful flow and I'm sure she will not disappoint as the reader keeps reading.
wow, I actually like how this story is unique and how the protagonist is a cocky guy with a really funny personality. This story is great. Actually, just work on it more still has great potential to be one of the best novels

at the beginning it was nice, once the novel starting to progress, it just feels like reading copy paste version of hunter academy which in itself is irritatingly slow-paced novel. so this one is not my cup of tea. good luck though.
I'm currently in the process of mass editing and revising, which is why l've paused, updating the chapters. I'm also enhancing the main character's strength in the early chapters. I plan to emphasize that Ace truly has an unexpected mate as hinted in the title."A Werewolf's Unexpected Mate" consists of 94 chapters, and l've completed revisions on 20 chapters so far, leaving 74 chapters to go. I anticipate resuming updates by April or May.
