Overall, this novel struggles to surpass its individual elements and lacks the substance needed to make it truly engaging. The absence of originality and depth undermines its potential, resulting in a less memorable reading experience.
The protagonist is charming, and readers can't help but root for his happiness. Unfortunately, this story falls into the "regret" genre where the main character mistreats someone he cares about and later feels remorse. It's disheartening to witness their suffering due to the自私 actions of the female characters, despite their understandable circumstances and the theme of miscommunication. At this stage, any average village girl would seem like a better choice.
Nonetheless, the novel itself is an enjoyable read. By the way, the protagonist's loyal comrade is incredibly heartwarming.

It's not a bad read, it has plenty of funny moments. Though it has lots of racist comedy, so if you're not able to stomach stuff like that this probably isn't for you. Sadly the story will never be finished as the author was shut down by the Chinese SARFT for what I assume was criticizing them for being corrupt, which is hilariously ironic.
