Wow. I've never encountered this problem before so I'm not sure how helpful my advice would be, but I recommend reading spoiler summaries for it. Heavy mention on the summary part because if it's summarized it's more compacted and easier to digest compared to reading 30k words of that arc alone.

Couldn't continue this beyond chapter 8. FMC is a nihilistic, unlikable cringey, depressed teen kid who transformed into a NEET hikikomori, shamelessly complaining (NOT in a funny way) about her family while burning their money for nothing.

update to the previous comment, i finished the book (i read it on other site). I definitely recommend you to read it. It was probably the most thought-provoking novel i have read in a while. Also you can learn alot about china's culture (partly the modern one) from it.
It is hard to pace the story and especially decide how long the writers want the story to be. Sometimes the novels end due to the writer such as running out of ideas or burnout of writing the novel for a long time. They also want to make sure they don’t drag out the ending and make it boring towards the end when they put a lot of effort into the story. In the end, we kind of just have to accept the ending for what it is.
