I am liking the story and definitely hooked. My personal opinion, I wish Amara wasn't so naive after what happened to her when she was younger. However, as Amara's story develops the personality type seems to make sense. I look forward to reading more chapters and watching for those updates.
There's something deeply symbolic about the red marks under Wen Yan's collarbone, and I can't stop thinking about it. On the surface, they're just hickeys—evidence of a night with Xie Cheng. But the author keeps returning to them like they mean something bigger. Wen Yan sees them in the mirror while wearing a strapless wedding dress. She considers having the assistant cover them with concealer, then deliberately pulls the neckline down to make them MORE visible. She's using her body as a battleground, and those marks are the territory being contested. The wedding dress itself is another symbol that won't let me go. This is supposed to be the moment of her life—the white dress, the diamonds, the exclusive boutique appointment. But Wen Yan feels nothing. "The shop assistant smiled and chimed in... Faced with such enthusiasm, Wen Yan couldn't bring herself to respond coldly and curved her lips slightly." That slight, automatic smile while her soul is literally leaving her body—that's the whole story right there. And then there's the phone. The phone is everywhere in this text. Wen Yan can't unlock it on the curb. Xie Cheng snatches it from her. Qi Siye calls it. Jiang Wantang's name flashes on the screen and Qi Siye abandons Wen Yan yet again. The phone is the modern equivalent of a thread—pull it and the whole structure unravels. It's the object that connects and disconnects people simultaneously. The coin toss at the end—another symbol. She's literally gambling with her own life, flipping a coin to decide whether to let Qi Siye leave her at the bridal shop. But the coin has already landed. We know what she's going to do. She's just going through the motions.
