Interesting story. Writing a comedy without cringe in xianxia is difficult but the author has managed to do it. I really liked the mc's mindset and character. Overall, great story with a lighthearted feel to it.
Immersive and wholesome. Those are the two words they come into my mind while reading this book. Right from the beginning the author just builds up this amazing world that comes to life as you continue reading. I highly recommend this book to everyone

This aspect of web novels may be even more applicable to Chinese web novels, in consideration that the Chinese language is so different from English that many of the textual nuances and literary techniques present in the raw version may be eliminated within a translation.It is because of these factors that 'Short, Light, Free' may be considered a true gem in the mud; it succeeds despite all odds. Right?But of course you do.I have noticed that throughout the stories the author appears to maintain a constant theme. All the stories are psychedelic in nature, exploring the limits of the human perspective and the morality of choices. The reason I would describe most of the stories as psychedelic is primarily that they all incorporate some element of shifting perspectives; I like to imagine them as some sort of warped and confusing version of the Aristotelian anagnorisis. The reason that this style of writing appeals to me is that it allows for the exploration of abstract concepts and it enables character development to noticeably take place extremely quickly; a feature that is critical for short stories.Obviously, they are not all completely psychedelic in nature. Even if it is thought-provoking and ingenious in its usage, anyone would get tired of watching the Matrix seven times in a row.This is why I love the other aspects explored in all the stories. I find that the author tends towards dystopian tragedies and romance stories every now and then, merging them with a wonderful but strange mixture of sci-fi and xianxia.In summary, the stories detailed in 'Short, Light, Free' are all wonderful (Except maybe for Mountain and Sea, you would require ample amounts of background knowledge on the xianxia genre and Chinese culture to get it, like a few hundred hours of reading them, or maybe watching a couple Kung Fu films). I would strongly suggest anyone to read them, they serve as great writing prompts (Or as mid-day snacks if your hobbies align with mine). What the hell this novel sucks. The grandma thing is stupid she doesnt even do anything. She sucks up his money. He just sits there n doesnt even have the balls to make her speak up. Hell he doesnt have balls period. The dude literally craps himself then tries to be smart just to almost get killed by complete noobs. He was saved by a rookie... meaning to say he himself could have done something if he had manned up n tried instead of taking it like a little wuss. Then I go to leave a review n all I see is a bunch of hype with emojis that looks more like a bot rate bumper than actual reviews. I've wasted too much time reading as is but wanna leave a warning for future readers

It's a love and hate reading this kind of novel. I mean well if you're into a novel with a lot of loopholes, meh moments, seemingly impossible plot, one track mind, cliche ML with harem setting.. and i must emphasist, harem and like chances of losing a few needed braincell.. well then, go on. Otherwise go away.
It's a pretty average story. Too much info dumps. Stupid system. One-dimensional characters you really wouldn't care about (except for Man Man, who's a pretty annoying nationalistic pretty girl who REALLY doesnt know what she's saying. Well, let's start, exist various types of MC's: the silly MC when becomes stronger get intelligence;The silly MC, who becomes stronger, but not intelligence. But THIS MC, man I never had seen a ****y like that.1- He is so much afraid of fight, he doesn't try to affront them.2- He has no thoughts about his actions, like : If I do it, my friend'll die?3- He doesn't learn about the mistakes that he does.
I read this one at an MTL style site for 300-400 chapters it has a generic storyline, bland character designs, and non-existing story development. You can see what's coming in the next 50 chapters without reading. But its background can be used as a template for some other novel so there is that. Before I forget This author literally a noob at spreading info at his story treating the entire thing as a dictionary with examples.
