But here's where it gets clever: instead of letting the confrontation play out as a simple fight scene, the author introduces the wound reveal. Si Nan notices the blood on his robe and suddenly the power dynamic shifts. She's no longer the intruder being caught—she's the one tending to his injuries. The scene moves from action to intimacy to revelation in a way that feels completely organic. Then Chapter 5 immediately launches into the investigation arc. Si Nan hires Tianji Pavilion, spends five hundred taels, tails Jin Yan for two hours, discovers the Chancellor connection, gets caught, and is chased through the night. All of this happens in what amounts to a single chapter, and yet it never feels rushed. The author uses short, punchy paragraphs and frequent scene breaks to maintain momentum.
