The restaurant scene is one of the most vivid snapshots of this era I've ever read in a novel. Let me just say this: the prices on that blackboard tell you everything you need to know about the world. Stir-fried vegetables: 30 cents. Rice: 30 cents per half jin, but you also need grain coupons. A worker makes thirty-six yuan a month. Su Nuannuan asks for one thousand yuan. Do the math. This isn't just a number—this is an impossible sum that the narrator makes you feel in your bones. The state-run restaurant itself—empty at eight in the morning, one attendant who doesn't even bother looking up, the smell of a place that serves people who matter and people who don't. Chef Wang's plump hand pushing aside the kitchen curtain, his smile that dies the second he sees who's behind Ji Xiao. That single detail—his expression turning odd—says everything about how this girl is perceived. She's not just poor; she's *notorious*. The manic episodes, the biting. The world has already written her story before she opens her mouth. And then the supply and marketing cooperative—absolute chaos. Meat sold out again. People shouting. The salesperson's flat, exhausted voice. Su Nuannuan's panic attack in the car, fingers digging into the seat, cold sweat breaking out. The contrast between the noisy crowd outside and the suffocating silence inside the car? Perfect. You can feel her heart racing. The image of Ji Xiao coming back with paper bags, ears flushed red because it's the first time he's ever bought clothes for a woman—that scene is so specific and human. The author doesn't need a thousand words. Just one man walking fast, slightly unsteady, trying not to be seen. And then Su Nuannuan looking at his thin lips and calculating how many kisses equal one health point. The world feels real because the details are so grounded. Food stamps. Grain coupons. Military dependents. This isn't just backdrop—it's the cage she's trying to survive inside.
Let me start with the cabin's stats because I cannot unsee them: 【Durability】: 70 (No problem against C-level contaminated creatures; if a B-level comes, I suggest you put the house in your pocket and run) 【Security】: 65 (Resistant to corrosion, fire, and rain, but not to robbers, thieves, or meteorites) 【Overall Rating】: Good (What a difficult two words; looking at them, do you feel like you've seen salvation?) This is genius worldbuilding disguised as a product review. The app is mocking the player. "Good"—what a difficult two words. The narrator even asks if you feel like you've seen salvation, as if acknowledging the absurdity of calling something this inadequate "good." But it's also a mirror for Wen Xi's entire situation. She just got a cabin that's supposedly safe, but it's basically a tin can in a world full of B-level threats and people who want to rob her. The security rating of 65 against "robbers, thieves, or meteorites"—the author is telling us that no amount of app-provided safety matters when the real danger is other humans. The recurring motif of the black rain and the contaminated creatures is also doing heavy lifting here. The old man mentions the pharmacy is closed, the hospital might not be open, and reaching a hospital means being swarmed by contaminated creatures. The rain isn't just weather—it's the environment itself turned hostile. The world doesn't just punish weakness, it punishes movement. You're either hidden and starving, or mobile and hunted. Wen Xi's desire to upgrade to a bathroom—a mundane, almost ridiculous wish—becomes this symbol of normalcy she's clawing toward. She's not dreaming of wealth or power. She wants a toilet that works. That's the real tragedy and the real hope of this story.
This is a great story so far and gave 5⭐️review for your efforts and possibly more chapters?, also i have a skill idea for MC if you're interested.
Shameless author: please kindly leave your likes or comment here for more chapters !
its a good book with a solid storyline but the paragraph is too lengthy for my taste, though I usually write the same too but for readers it must be adjusted... besides that everything is good, i recommend it
hey found this gem and I gotta say I love the concept of the story, I just hope he can find happiness, maybe with Lorraine, after getting payback on that gold digger and so called best friend. I would've giving 5 stars, but there is one issue that can be easily resolved with a proofreader and editor so that this story can become a true masterpiece it has the potential to be. Keep up the great work.
The story is great for me. I wanna read some more of it, definitely coming back for more. There's still room for improvement but I really like the story. Thank you author.
I love the story I dea and the mixture of culture, I look forward for more of your stories.
this is a promising read. there are instances when the MC's action may not be consistent with his previous life as an assassin, but perhaps this is also due to his assimilation with his new life. looking forward to more chapters.
Seamless author here to give myself five stars✌️
