The author is making us sit in the same suffocating atmosphere as Qin Shu, feeling every moment of her confinement. The pacing here is a held breath. Then Chapter 11 (Fourth Concubine Invites You to Enjoy Some Fresh Tea)—the title alone is dripping with irony, by the way—everything accelerates. Nanny Zhang appears with the medicine jar order. Qin Shu makes a decision. She and Floating Cloud step out of the Side Courtyard. The walk to the warehouse is described with mounting tension—each step closer to the Front Courtyard, the atmosphere thickening. The author controls the reader's heartbeat through sentence length and detail density. And then the warehouse scene: short, sharp sentences. Fragments. "Heavy goods? Complete shipments?" The dialogue from behind the door is clipped and urgent. Wang Zhenbiao's excitement versus Xu Feng's cold menace creates a rhythm that feels like a drumbeat getting louder. The chapter ends mid-sentence—"At that very moment,"—which is such a cheap trick but it WORKS because the author has earned it through all the tension built beforehand. I immediately opened the next chapter. No shame. The pacing structure here is basically: slow burn → spark → wildfire → cliffhanger. And it's executed flawlessly.

I found this novel enjoyable with believable protagonists and antagonists. I feel that too many authors rely on lining up face slapping like dominos... while not empty of that trope, it wasn’t over the top and everything was pleasant to read.
Here is my review of Rearing Demons:World Building: I think the world building of this book is quite solid with Zulmasharr especially with the author quite clear description of the world, the dark atmosphere, and even the monster such as the imp. However, I do like the author to expand more of the demon realm's depth.Characters: Yur is for me is both engaging and exciting main character to follow. His introduction quite neat especially when he broke form the prison. I also like Yur curiosity of the system he received and the way he wanted to expand more of its capability. I enjoy that he even interested on exploring more. Although his backstory wasn't fully show yet especially how he ended in the demon realm, I believe the author will expand more about it. System: I enjoy the system work such as the requirement to evolve or unlocking the greater power. It's a solid system.Overall, if you system novel, I will recommend this one.
