Good book but only four stars since he dropped it. Really pissed about that.
An interesting take on a game world and its mechanics. The 'balanced fortunes' system (for lack of a better name) that the world has is a surprising new take on how a game may be designed, at least in my reading/playing experience. A smidge concerned about the state of the MC and his life, both past and rebirth, but that is hopefully just due to a lack of current exposition detailing it at this stage of the writing. Overall this novel has gotten me intrigued and I am looking forward to watching as it grows.
The first half was a little difficult to get into, but the later half took on some charm. I have hopes for a more rich tale as the story continues.

There are so many symbols layered into these chapters that I need to unpack them one by one because the author is definitely not writing casually. The swing under the camphor tree is the central image. A swing is something you sit on and gently move back and forth—never fully still, never going anywhere. That's exactly where their relationship is. Lu HuaiChuan wants to paint her on this swing, holding the rabbit, in this empire dress he made years ago and couldn't find anyone to wear it. He literally says: "Now, it's yours." This dress was waiting for her. It was made for her. It had been gathering dust until she appeared. That's not subtle, folks. Mimi the rabbit is another huge symbol. She's shy with everyone except Shen Simo and Lu HuaiChuan. The child at the picnic says her own rabbit won't let anyone touch it, but Mimi actively nuzzles the little girl's hand when offered food. Mimi represents the trust that's been built between these three—the rabbit chooses who it lets close. And then there's the Lycoris radiata comparison at the end. This flower is poisonous but beautiful, and it blooms in autumn when everything else is dying. Shen Simo is telling Lu HuaiChuan that she's dangerous to be around, that getting close to her could hurt him, and he's the one who gets to decide whether he cares. The title of Chapter 23—"Ordinary"—is the biggest symbol of all. Nothing about this relationship is ordinary. The word is being used as both a shield and a lie, and every time Lu HuaiChuan says it, he's mocking the very idea that they could ever be just ordinary.
Just caught up and story is great it isn't five stars because i feel like you haven't given enough depth the to travis ??????????.
Amazing book well worth a 4.5 or higher only reason I’m giving it one star is out of nowhere the novel was changed to complete even though it is still in the middle and no matter what none of the messages or attempts to contact the guys doing the book they won’t respond
