Thank you for this novel. At the beginning I was reading the reviews that said the base of the story is going fast, and yes to me that would be true if the focus of the story is the cultivation part of Mc. I feel like even though the Mc of the story is Qai and his goals that he is trying to achieve, this story is also about his family as a whole and its transformation to a great sect within their generation which is the dream incision by our Mc. So if the author slowed down the development of the story then I am afraid the story would not be as interesting as it is now.So dear author thank you for your hard work and please keep on sharing your story as you envisioned it and we will be glade to follow this world you created.

There are so many layers of meaning packed into these chapters and I want to unpack at least a few of them. The Buddha verses hanging in the meditation room are the most obvious symbolic anchor: 'When the preceding state is absent, the mind is absent; sin and merit arise and vanish like illusions.' This is essentially saying that everything we cling to—our grief, our sense of duty, our moral positions—may be nothing more than temporary formations of mind, arising and passing like clouds. And right after Sang Wu reads these words, she looks out the window and feels the mist against her fingers. The mist and the verses are in conversation with each other. The preceding state is absent—the husband is gone, the life she knew is gone—and yet her mind is anything but absent. She's hyper-aware, calculating, surviving. The theme of widowhood and the expectations placed on women runs throughout. Sang Wu has been keeping vigil for her deceased husband, and now the family wants her to enter a Jian-si, a succession marriage, to produce heirs for the third branch. The author explicitly tells us about the precedent: Lord Yi of the Wu Pei branch became the adopted heir and married his widowed sister-in-law so the branch would continue. This is framed as virtuous, praised by all, a model of family duty. But reading between the lines, it's a system that treats women as vessels for lineage continuation, their desires and agency entirely secondary. Sang Wu's hesitation when she touches the clouds is telling—she's briefly tasted freedom, and the thought of returning to the unchanging routine of the Pei residence makes 'a faint, lingering resentment spread through her like creeping ivy.' The ivy metaphor is perfect. It's slow, it's quiet, but it grows and eventually covers everything. She's been playing the gentle, obedient widow, but something is shifting inside her.
