I love this book, the amount of time it was left on cliffhangers is unbelievable, I always have different emotions when I read muse stories. It is so worth the time to read, the storytelling is fantastic, can't wait for the next book in the series and other projects.

Not bad. Story line is a little disjointed at times and could use some clarity & better editing. But its overall a good story and seriously addicting to read.
I've read a lot of apocalypse novels and I can tell you right now: the image of Jiang Jiming standing at a floor-to-ceiling window, hands clenched so tight blood is dripping from his palms and he doesn't even notice, is one of the most emotionally devastating moments I've encountered in this genre. Not because it's dramatic for drama's sake. But because of what it represents. He knew the poison was in the food. He knew Wen Chi was testing him, or protecting herself, or whatever the situation was. And he finished the bowl anyway because "it was Wenwen's first time cooking for him." That single line — that is the entire emotional thesis of this character. He would rather die than not accept the one small gesture of normalcy she offered him. And then he lets her go. He doesn't stop her. He watches the car disappear and stands there bleeding. That's not weakness. That's a kind of love that's so intense it paralyzes him. Meanwhile, across the street, Xu Qiaofeng says "If you don't stop the bleeding, you'll soon die in a river of blood!" and Wen Chi pulls her hand away to go find medicine. She's prioritizing survival, practical care, over the emotional weight of the moment. And that's so true to her character — she's a survivor first, emotionally complicated second. The healing ability scene with the tall girl in black was also surprisingly moving. Not because it was romantic, but because it showed that Wen Chi's world is expanding. She's not just surviving with her little trio anymore — she's encountering other people, other groups, other possibilities. The blue light entering Xu Qiaofeng's body felt like a visual metaphor for hope entering a story that's been all darkness up to this point. I'm not okay. I need to sit down.

The rape scenes were a little much but this is definitely a great read!
