Great series so far, like the twists this story has compared to some of the common templates other urban stories might have. I enjoy the multiple layers of plots and mysteries as well that show a long term story as well as immediate sub plot that needs to be resolved. This will be one of the stories I’ll be anxiously awaiting new chapters for. Great job so far!

I'm genuinely impressed by how much narrative ground this covers in just two chapters. Let me break it down because the pacing is actually really tight. Chapter 13 opens with the ghost scare as a setup—this is a classic technique where you establish atmosphere and then pivot to the real action. The night fight between Feng Qianqian and Nangong Li is the first arc, and it resolves quickly: she escapes, he's left wanting more. Then we immediately cut to Song Zhiyi's scheme, which is a COMPLETELY separate storyline that gets its own beginning, middle, and end within the same chapter. She brings the drugged soup, he figures it out, turns it back on her, and arranges for her to be 'punished' with the coachman. That's a full revenge subplot wrapped into one chapter. And then Nangong Li can't sleep, dreams of Feng Qianqian—hook, line, and sinker for the romantic tension. Chapter 14 picks up with Feng Qianqian going to Tingyu Pavilion, resolving the Mingyue storyline, and then overhearing the Chancellor's conspiracy. Each scene has a clear purpose and doesn't drag. The transition from the emotional reunion with Mingyue to the cold, calculating conversation in the Chancellor's study is jarring in the best way—it's like the story is saying 'okay, here's the heart, now here's the ice.' The chapter ends on a cliffhanger of sorts with the Second Concubine proposing to adopt Xue'er and Mingxuan under Lady Jiang's name, and the Chancellor considering it. That's a major plot development that sets up future conflict. What I appreciate most is that the author never lingers too long on any single scene. Action moves to intrigue moves to emotion moves to intrigue again. It's relentless but never feels rushed because each moment has weight.

A unique idea done quite well, the characters feel alive, the story is progressing with just the right amount of speed and although sometimes there are grammar errors it does not interfere with the reading experience that much.Eagerly waiting for the next chapters.
