Honest reviews are here.. When I saw "Unparalleled Comprehensive" in the novel title, I was hype like, "This novel going to had OP MC".. Because I like OP MC.. But it is not.. It not OP MC.. To comprehend the technique, MC needs to stare/watch it for a period of time.. The stronger the skills, the longer the duration MC needs to watch that person/item within the short range.. For example, MC needs to watch a person for two days to comprehend a rank 2 technique (2nd weakest) and that IF ONLY MC continue watching it for 2 days straight but how can MC continue to watch an unfamiliar person for the whole two days within short range without stop? At most, you can only spend a few hours on that person, and it will take like a week to get that skill.. Even worse, those skills are not strong skills. MC also didn't know anything about skills he comprehended until the system was complete and announced it.. So, it kind of gambles and is a waste of time to spend using it on a person. It is much better or less risky to use it on others things like books, walls and so on..
Grade 9 cultivator is lowest grade, and grade 1 cultivator is highest grade, while rank 1 skill is the weakest rank and rank 9 is highest rank.. It kinda weird that you flip it one level 9 are weakest while other level 9 are the strongest. As you also read many others' novels, you might get confused.. For example, MC suddenly gets rank 3 techniques, and you are like, "Wait, is it high rank or lower rank?" When the author mentioned that MC is martial art grade 9, I was like,"ok, MC almost break thru to others realm." The author DID NOT TOLD US at all about it until we figure out ourselves when MC tries to learn strong skill to break thru into martial art grade 8..
MC speed of cultivation can be said as slow because he needs to find strong cultivation techniques, which is the author making it hard/nearly impossible for MC to find one..

An amazing that you just can’t get enough of! the ability to have the Mc have a high intelligence and comedic personality without being to overpowered, while maintaining a good plot to the story and having diverse set of characters is an amazing act of itself. Highly recommend

The MC is an excellent breath of fresh air and while he definitely acts like a snobby Royal at times it’s honestly done PERFECTLY!!!
His background and history are intriguing and compelling as he searches for the shroud of mystery surrounding his parents and I’m hoping eventually becoming strong enough to regain his path to the throne over his younger brother.

Desolate Fate is a re-write of another novel called A Desolate Life. I'm basing my review on ADL, which I read all 256 chapters of.
This is a better written xianxia then most of what is available on webnovel and other sties like royal road. It avoids the bad tropes and cliches common in other cookie cutter stories, yet still stays true to the genre. The world building and cultivation system are consistent, and you can tell the author has done a lot of work behind the scenes to make everything feel purposeful.
The story takes follows the protagonist's rise in the cultivation world, as well as his exploration of his mysterious past. Each volume is a satisfying story arc in and of themselves, while all still progressing the meta plot. The first few chapters contain foreshadowing for a reveal that comes 250 chapters later, while not feeling out of place.
The main character definitely grows and changes throughout the chapters. The main character starts out as young child, forced into a "righteous" sect that has killed his family. He struggles with his anger, and the conflict of wanting to get revenge while not going too far. His innocence is broken and for a while he becomes a lot more demonic, which can turn away some readers. The villainous lead tag is there for a reason. In his heart of hearts though, the MC does not want to be a killer, or evil. He is forced by his circumstances for a while, but eventually works towards gaining redemption.
