BTTH in a nutshell: Here's a girl, there's another girl, MC nearly died here whew, here have another girl, power up, oh no girl A went back to her clan, power up, another girl please, the girl from before that disappeared returned, oh that girl almost died, filler chapters, power up again, girl hates MC but doesn't kill MC even though she wants to, another girl, more pretty girls, girls.
I love this novel. A competent MC that isn't hung up on "justice", hard working, who gives back all he receives with interest. Cast of characters is decent, the setting is interesting. Other than dragging out events and the antagonists being repetitive in personality, it's a good read.
Just kidding. Kill me.
On a more serious note, this novel is bland. The fight scenes are half-assed and the story makes no sense. Please don't get me wrong. The world that the novel is set in is fantastic but the characters and their attitudes make it stupid. The protagonist is a plain idiot, his chick is a Mary Sue character that apparently loves him but doesn't trust him enough to tell him important things (ffs I'd enjoy this more if this novel were NTR), his side chicks are annoying (Yun Yun is stupid - perfect for him, Yanran is a dolt, Yan Fei is plain annoying Medusa is a snake - no pun intended - and wants to *spoiler* but chooses not to; and don't get me started talking about that loli and the relatives). You may find this opinion stupid but take a good and hard look at the story again. Look at the female characters. Are they good characters on their own or do they just serve the protagonist's needs, wants, and desires?
Now, the badly written harem is just one issue. The second is how typically cliched it is. Compare BTTH to nearly every other novel on the Chinese web literary world and you'll find at least 20 other works that are similar. About 3 or 4 are translated and can be accessed by foreign readers. This needs no explanation. The third is how it seems to drag on and on without inserting important information within chapters. This led to me skipping chapters entirely without bothering to even go through them.
"Oh Cactus but you skip chapters so how do you know whether it is important or not?"
Because I've read up to chapter 600+ before putting it on hiatus and reading it from the beginning, and realising how much time I've wasted on a piece of garbage. Then I proceeded to skip chapters entirely even after 600+.
Overall, I'm tempted to drop this god-awful novel but then started thinking about how much time I've invested in it. I'll probably read till 1000 to see whether it improves or not. Knowing web novels, best of luck to me.

At chapter 170, the quality of translation takes a nosedive. Worse than machine translation. The entire chapter is a single paragraph, names change constantly within the chapter. Unreadable garbage.
Another gaming novel -_-
This is a different and lighthearted take on the VRMMORPG genre. The work is fun without requiring too much from the reader. The young MC works as a driver and happens to meet and befriend a genius game creator. He becomes the only beta tester and is handed his friend's legacy with a responsibility to ensure the game stays fun for everyone.
As a result, the story is similar to a reincarnation novel except the MC is not using the game to fulfill his wants and needs. Nor is he preventing an apocalyptic future. He is only there to have fun. The MC is not very selfish or obsessed with women. He tends to act like an advisor or guide so other players don't miss out on certain secrets. However he also sometimes acts like a supervillain as he becomes ridiculously OP in an attempt to steer the world quests away from certain outcomes he thinks will not be as fun for the players.
As of chapter 78, the story remains balanced, interesting, and lighthearted. There are even a few mysteries to wonder about.
My complaints about this novel are:
1. The constant but minor grammatical errors.
2. Certain odd repeated phrases. Example: The MC scoffing is used to indicate his nonverbal, positive reply (it's odd because scoffing is an act of derision. Sometimes it makes sense, other times it does not.)
3. Many of the characters, MC included, seem too trusting of others and there are rarely any consequences. (this is a minor gripe because, although difficult to believe, it also makes the novel more lighthearted and fun)
PS: The author's favorite phrase seems to be "hums with understanding," a phrase both unique and adorable.

I haven’t really read this novel, but I’ve seen it at front page and felt pity as it has more than 50 chapters already and only 2 reviews as of now. So, here it is. Good luck author, keep up your hard work! Don’t lose hope, hold on, persevere, keep going at it! Actually, I may even try reading this novel after all.

After reading 15 chapters. This novel has very good potential for top 100. Setting is good, character is unique unlike others where there's killing a lot and acting like a hero saving others. Translation is not good. Too many fault in Grammer. Give it consistency and daily updates; it'll surely spear
A fantasy novel set in a video game world is nothing original, but how my story will be told certainly is. It will be from an NPC's perspective, and what the players see is vastly different to what the NPCs experience.
