This is currently my favorite novel on this site, all the other monater taming type novels just leave me sighing on regret compare to this. Cuz there are alot of chapters for me to read the other novels but sadly 10 chapters a week just cant satisfy me ? maybe at thia point im too spoiled by 14+ chapters a week... Sigh
This book is just about ghost busting nothing special and it will remain so until the end it's a book of disappointment. Went to the raw to check if it will change to a cultivation world but it doesn't just "Chinese ghost buster in Japan" that would be a more fitting name for the book
The quality of this novel is much better than most in Qidian, The writer's writing skill is pretty good, and he's very clear in what direction he wants to take his story forward. The writing is void of *******ism, which is rare to find in Qidian. The writer's command of english is very good. However, I felt his understanding of Japanese culture isn't sufficient enough. The biggest problem to the storytelling is the attempt to blend and use old Japanese, modern Japanese, and modern english words and terms to tell the story. Very frustrating for me to see other characters keep calling the mc Miura-kun, as if he's a high school boy in shounen novel. Also, his sister (Very shounen sister, she has all the traits) calling him nii-san and nii-chan instead of Aniue or Onii-sama/san (It actually should be Tadakata-Onii-sama/san, because she has another older brother, especially when all three of them are presented). These details are important, at least I deem them to be when the Author expects us to learn the archaic Japanese words for 'spearman' and 'archer'. If you want to be that authentic, you need to walk the whole nine yards, not using english pound for draw weight, and definitely not having these Japanese characters talk like modern people. This breaks the story for me, more than anything else.I'm very critical when I comment, especially when I recognize that the Author is competent. Mark twain once said "The difference between the right word and the almost right word is really a large matter – it is the difference between the lightning and the lightning bug.
5 stars. From the synopsis, I can already tell that it's a great novel.
In what little time I have, I have been eagerly reading \\"Forgotten Embers\\" to find out how it all works out! ?
my fav author. yay! very interesting plot..love it
Enjoying every second of this book
The atmosphere in these chapters is absolutely cinematic. Let me paint you a picture: Xue Ning standing alone in the snow at Zhenguo Temple, the north wind howling, snowflakes sweeping across her face, her cold little hands hidden in her sleeves curling into fists. The author doesn't just describe the cold weather—they make you FEEL it. "The mountains were much colder than usual. The north wind howled, and snowflakes swept across her face. The chill seeped into her bones like fine threads." That line about the chill seeping in like fine threads is genius. It's not just physical cold; it's emotional coldness, the coldness of being misunderstood by the person you've loved your entire life. And then there's the temple itself—this ancient, remote place with its memorial tablets, its eternal lamps, its meditation rooms. The side hall filled with densely arranged memorial tablets, some for ownerless wandering souls, others for travelers who died far from home. And among them, the tablets of General Xue and his wife, who died in battle with no remains recovered. This setting isn't just backdrop; it's loaded with meaning. Xue Ning kneeling before her parents' tablets, guarding them through the night, refusing to leave even when Nanny Hao urges her to rest—it's one of the most visually striking and emotionally resonant scenes I've read. The image of her slender back, stubborn and aloof and lonely, carrying an "untouchable emotion" that makes Su Zhan pause? Chills. Actual chills.
It is a good reading but I disagree with Ci keeping this ppl able to cause her family and friends harm. But some say you should keep your enemies closest. I'll give you 5 stars if you hurry up with the chapters.
next update soon
