Can we just talk about Zhou Yuan for a minute because this boy is COMEDY GOLD and I am here for it. The whole "thanks" scene is a masterpiece of misdirection and internal monologue. Xie Wenxing says thank you to Zhou Yuan, thinking he's the one who helped him—but it was actually XU HUA'I'AN who kicked Zhou Yuan to make him speak up. And Zhou Yuan's internal reaction? "If you weren't my Brother Huai... Hmph!" He's mad at being thanked by the wrong person but he's also completely devoted to Xu Huai'an. The loyalty is ridiculous and I love it. And then the physical comedy of it all—Zhou Yuan rubbing his ear like he misheard, then getting kicked AGAIN, finding two gray shoe prints on his pants leg. The author writes this so casually like it's no big deal but it's genuinely hilarious. This boy has become a human kicking target and he's just... accepting it? For his bro? "Xu Huai'an had always been like this. His words were precious, and he rarely bothered explaining himself. All Zhou Yuan could do was guess." That line right there tells you everything about their dynamic. Zhou Yuan is the translator, the bridge, the one who interprets Xu Huai'an's silent language for everyone else. He's essentially the sidekick in a buddy comedy, and his voice is so distinct—casual, loyal, slightly exasperated, deeply affectionate. The contrast between Zhou Yuan's loud internal monologue and Xu Huai'an's near-silence is what makes the dialogue sing. Xu Huai'an barely speaks in these chapters but when he does, it carries weight. The shoe kicks, the lingering gaze at Xie Wenxing's nape, the way he tilts his head and watches—these are his words. Silent, physical, devastating. And Xie Wenxing's voice? That soft, hesitant, internal-panicking voice is so different from both of them. "Just wait. After this class ends, I'll go talk to Xu Huai'an!" The desperate cheerleading he does for himself is painfully endearing.

I liked the book/story. I understand that American English is not always going to be the author’s first language; so at times I was a little confused with how things were described and sentence structure. That said I’m not putting the author or the book down. I really enjoyed this book. ...
It is a good story line. Well written, almost like it is happening as you read it. I can't wait to read more.
